Balatonboglár where families come to spend their vacation!

In the course of 2013 Balatonboglár saw a host of major developments as a result of which the above slogan rightly befits our town. The greatest and most important project was the development of the ‘Platán’ beach. A very large playground was constructed – it may even be referred to as a ‘children’s paradise’ – which is free of charge and there are a variety of high standard sports facilities. An aqua park called ‘Bubble’ has been constructed, with a variety of slides and water games. Musical programmes await children and adults on the stage at the main entry to the beach. A ‘wine yard’ was constructed in the beach site for the joy of our adult guests where local vintners offer their excellent wines to live music in the evenings. In addition to the new facilities of course guests will find the popular restaurants, buffets and ‘fried dough joints’ while the water of the Lake is crystal clear. You just simply cannot manage to be bored on this beach.

But there is a lot more to see! You cannot be bored even if the weather is not quite suitable for the beach or you have had your share of lying in the beach, swimming and using the beach facilities. The famous Spherical Lookout on the Castle hill has been reopened and an adventure park and a summer toboggan track have been constructed there. Developments of a cultural nature have also been carried out. The blue and red chapel on the graveyard hill has been refurbished and a beautiful and unique park has been created along the road between the two with an open-air stage with a seating capacity of 300 where theatre performances take place every evening throughout the summer months.

The harbour is also very well kept, offering exciting fishing opportunities. Scheduled tour boats set off towards different lakeside towns but you can also take a spin in a sailing boat or even go and see the unforgettable sunset in the very middle of the Lake and take a dip in the crystal clear water, or even go fishing from a sail boat. The 140 years old screw steam ship called Balaton has been restored and is now awaiting visitors as a museum in the harbour.

Balatonboglár is a town famous for its sports activities, it is host to the Hungarian National Handball Academy, as a result of which the town is looking forward to additional large scale developments to be completed by 2015. Thanks to the efforts of the Balaton Swimming School new generations of swimmers, water polo players and triathlonists are being raised. If you or your family feels like doing some sports please visit the Urányi János Sports and Spare Time Centre where you will find, among others, a swimming pool and a fitness room. Moreover, the above mentioned swimming school also runs summer training and camps. Next to the Platán beach you will find the Balatonboglár Tennis Club, founded in 1903, with several very high quality courts to be rented and with even training, if required. Bicycles can also be rented near the apartments.

Mention should also be made of the neighbouring town of Balatonlelle, since Boglár and Lelle are practically built up to form a single settlement, therefore the Hungarian National Circus that sets up its tent there in the summer is not at a great distance either, and nor is the adjacent funfair and the go-kart track. Balatonlelle also has its rich offering of festivals..
